As you'll know if you read Shiny Shiny and Tech Digest, last week saw Mobile World Congress take place in beautiful Barcelona. Part of the VMTA winners' prize was a trip with the Shiny Media crew to that very event - and we're pleased to be able to show you what they got up to. First let's take a look at Georgia's glimpse at LG's - oh yes - Watch Phone. The future has arrived, folks. The splendid editing, naturally, is provided by our other VMTA winner, Richard.

And so to the winners! Georgia's (aka georgia la) charisma gives her an identifiably "Shiny" presence, and, like the video with which she entered the competition, she didn't let the odd mishap affect her composure - an invaluable quality, as Shiny Media's videobloggers will testify. Richard (aka ten98), meanwhile, edited the review to create a simple yet effective clip which showcases the product - the LG KF600 phone - and the presenter effectively. Great teamwork! These two stars-in-waiting are, as we speak, at the Mobile World Conference with the Shiny Media team - we eagerly await their reports from the blogging front line!

Here we see two more of our runners-up in the LG VMTA. Like many of our entrants, Matt - aka Smivadee - has a strong following on YouTube, and his review of LG's KF600 showed the confidence that secured him a place in the final. Lynne - aka LMD327 - worked her magic on the footage to edit together a snappy video.

Well, we've told you who the winners of the LG Video Media Talent Award are - but how about checking out some of the footage from the day of judgement itself? Below we have Jane, aka StylistBrighton, who was pipped for the presenter spot but remains a very talented on-screen presence. Something tells us we'll be seeing Jane again on a screen near us again soon. Maybe because we know her YouTube channel URL. Anyway, here's Jane's bash at reviewing the LG KF600 phone.

LG VMTA judging day - and the winners are...

Well, they came, they played with phones, they presented their thoughts to camera, they edited the resulting video... they, er, wrestled with unexpected technical problems. In short, our shortlisted VMTA contestants found themselves in a pretty accurate microcosm of life as a Shiny Media employee. The shortlisted presenters were Georgia, Jane and Matt, and the finalists in the editing section were Lynne and Richard. One of the shortlisted editors sadly couldn't make the judging day. With Susi Weaser liveblogging and moblogging the whole thing, plus a free LG Viewty and a trip to the 3GSM conference in Barcelona at stake, there was no shortage of pressure for the finalists to handle. It was therefore terrific to see them cope so well, and produce such impressive results in such a short period of time.]]> Georgia, who took the presenting internship, and Richard, who was judged the best editor. Congratulations to the pair of them - they each win their very own LG Viewty, and will be off to the 3GSM conference next month with the Shiny Media crew. They'll be keeping us updated on their experiences by keeping a blog of their Shiny Media internships. Watch this space!

Fatimah Zahra's Presenter entry for the LG Media Talent Award

Fatimah Zahra is the first new entrant to take advantage of the date extension for LG Media Talent Award entries, letting us know all about what style means to her (including lots of love for Arsenal, Nokia phones and fashion). This one's got a bit of a "Lost" vibe about it, with the grainy, black and white video looking like something the Dharma initiative would create if asked to talk about their idea of style. Nice work, Fatimah! If you'd like to enter to win the chance to work with the lovely Shiny Media team, you've got until the 1st January - so get videoing! LG VMTA COMPETITION EXTENDED! New close date: 1st January 2008

Thanks to everyone who has entered the LG Video Media Talent Award so far - the standard of entries has been extremely high and has provided much entertainment (and argument) here at Shiny Towers. We've received a lot of feedback from people who found out about the competition a little too late, so, as a gesture of seasonal goodwill, we're extending the contest over the holiday period until 1st January 2008. So if you receive a snazzy new camera / editing software from Father Christmas you can put them to good use! Obviously this means that we'll be changing the date of the judging day as well - the new date will be arranged for sometime during the week starting 14th January. It's getting really interesting to see how many different variations can be edited together from the same set of clips of the Shiny Media staff. It's going to be tough to create a shortlist of entries which show talent (of which we've seen loads) as well as an understanding of Shiny's own style in creating video. OK this entry for the video production internship used some "interesting" content that I really hope they had the rights to use... If you're still planning on entering then make sure you check all the competition terms first ;-) Anyway, have added this entry due to it's spooky ability to show a comparison between the iconically stylish Audrey Hepburn and one of the Shiny staff.
