Polyvore - The Online Style Assistant

Dream up outfits and see what clothes look like together without even leaving the house!

Polvore
is a site that allows you to easily browse clothes from a wealth of websites including net a porter, Topshop and Victoria's secret and put them all together to create your perfect look. It combines the two of the ultimate spare time activities; browsing clothes websites and deciding what to wear with what!

I was dubious at first, thinking it was but a tool for those technically savvy journo types (to create press worthy outfit combo's), but was surprised to find its actually really easy to use, and you can even view a video instruction.

Don't know about you innocent readers but I often find myself with nothing to wear, no longer able to see my bedroom floor after pulling out my entire wardrobe trying to create a new look, and with just five minutes before I have to be out the door succumbing to the outfit I've worn a hundred times before. Although using Polyvore you do run the risk of being left emotionally unstable longing for garments beyond your means, you do avoid the physical bedroom mess and can be assured you know what looks good together.
Its great if you're not sure about how you'd work a new trend, or are browsing clothes sites for that special occasion and in my case is particularly using for working out what I'd actually wear that bright pink frilly dress I've spotted in the charity shop!

It also allows you to smugly bypass stuffing tops and tights in your handbag to try on in badly lit and often surprisingly hot changing rooms. Instead view the results from the comfort of your desk chair, have a think about it, before then perhaps angelically sauntering into Topshop to purchase your desired item!

A bit like the persuasive friend that assures you maxing out your overdraft and confessing your love for the barman is a fabulous idea, Polyvore is dangerous. It propels the human desire to dust off those purse strings, and half the websites being American certainly doesn't help as you find yourself calculating shipping costs!

Saying that, I can't wait to don my latest outfit creation.

Check it out here.
