Thanks to everyone who has entered the LG Video Media Talent Award so far - the standard of entries has been extremely high and has provided much entertainment (and argument) here at Shiny Towers.
We've received a lot of feedback from people who found out about the competition a little too late, so, as a gesture of seasonal goodwill, we're extending the contest over the holiday period until 1st January 2008. So if you receive a snazzy new camera / editing software from Father Christmas you can put them to good use!
Obviously this means that we'll be changing the date of the judging day as well - the new date will be arranged for sometime during the week starting 14th January.
In the meantime, if you missed the last deadline check out our guide on how to enter and get to it!
It's getting really interesting to see how many different variations can be edited together from the same set of clips of the Shiny Media staff.
It's going to be tough to create a shortlist of entries which show talent (of which we've seen loads) as well as an understanding of Shiny's own style in creating video.
You can offer your assitance by voting now, in the comments section, on your favourite entries!
OK this entry for the video production internship used some "interesting" content that I really hope they had the rights to use... If you're still planning on entering then make sure you check all the competition terms first ;-)
Anyway, have added this entry due to it's spooky ability to show a comparison between the iconically stylish Audrey Hepburn and one of the Shiny staff. Watch and see (and leave your votes in the comments section below).
This entry really lifted the bar for the video production internship; animation, loads of original content; a unique take on the Shiny vox pops. It was witty, insightful, fun, well put together, relevant, innovative ... running out of adjectives now. If you'd like to add some more leave comments below!
To be honest, we thought broadcast journalism students would've sent us their videos ages ago. Well done to this 23 year old student for getting in first and sending us this slick offering.
Do you think she should be win? She's asking for comments below...
This presenter is a little bit Brandish meets Lost Weekend with a touch of Who Ate All the Pies (can't tell if it's a pie or a pasty he's eating in the video, all suggestions welcome).
Want to see more of what he can do? Leave your comments below to vote.
The production category moves in to the lead with this next entry. But it's only been the first week so we're sure there's more wannabe presenters out there.
If you're planning to enter don't leave it to the last minute as the Shiny editors are selecting the entries they like the best to feature over the coming weeks, so you could be part of Shiny Media sooner than 16th December!
Here's the 2nd entry for the editor's internship. This one's got some original content in there. Check it out and vote in the comments section below to help pick the shortlist.
It all starts today! If you want the chance to win a 6-month internship with the UK's leading video blogging team then enter now.
The competition closes on the 16th December, but don't wait until the last minute; each week the Shiny editors will be rounding up their favourite entries and *your* video could be featured on one of the Shiny sites and viewed by 1,000s of our daily readers.
If you see a video you like, help us by leaving your comments. We'll be checking daily to see which videos are generating the most discussion.
LG and Shiny are offering a chance to train and work with Shiny Media, the UK’s top video blogging team. This opportunity will allow unique insight into how we plan, script and shoot up to 80 videos every month. The Shiny Media videos are watched by an audience of around 50,000 every week, and this internship offers you the chance to gain skills that will help you develop your career in the video media industry.
We have two 6-month internships available starting from January 2008. One for a budding video presenter and one for a video production person. The internship provides:
The chance to be trained by top talent in video blogging and contribute to creating videos that are watched by an audience of 1,000s daily
An all expenses paid trip to Barcelona to cover the 3GSM World Congress
A blog to share your experiences while participating in the programme
The brand new LG Viewty mobile phone to help you on your path to shooting video on the go
You can also tell us which videos *you* think are best by leaving comments and ranking them on YouTube.
The LG Video Media Talent Award is a competition, running until 1st January, to find two interns to train with Shiny Media’s top video blogging team and develop skills in presenting or filming/editing. Hoping to start a career in the video media industry?
